Three Wheeled Buggies
If you're seeking a buggy to run around in or a compact stroller for neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spots.
If you want a smooth ride with your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels with swivel. However, they are prone to punctures so be prepared with an repair kit.
Sturdy frame
New data show that three-wheeled buggies, the symbol of the decade that had more money than common sense, are in a steep decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, which are more flexible and simple to drive and look fashionable.
The bigger the wheels are, the more your buggy will be able to deal with bumpy and uneven pavements. With larger wheels front and back makes it much easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn and 3 year old and found it was able to withstand grass, cobbles, rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it feels sturdy to push and extremely solid when traversing difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasionally pumping) have suspension built-in that was very comfortable for my kids.
The size and shape of the seat is a further factor to consider. It should be big enough for your child's comfort. You will also need it to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies offer the option of reclining completely, while others allow an adult facing one.
A great option for those who want to tackle off-road or muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy can be used as a one-person unit from birth, and then expands to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth to age 4, and comes with a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a big padded seat. The storage options are excellent as well, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets inside the hood and a handy pouch on the back of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels means that your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. They also make it easier to manoeuvre the pushchair in tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies come with swivel wheels at the front to help you navigate tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock to provide increased speed and stability. This is especially useful when you hit the kerb or a tree. The front wheel will be lifted slightly to avoid hitting it.
Many 3 wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres that allow them to navigate a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They're also lighter. They are prone to punctures, and you'll need to have an repair kit and spare inner tube in your arsenal.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and the Venicci Carbo lux are among our favorite 3-wheelers. Both of these buggies come with larger wheels that, according to MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to effortlessly climb and descend kerbs. They also have a suspension that according to Kath "smooths out bumps with great efficiency".
The downside of having larger wheels is that they make buggies quite large and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This is a problem especially if you're using it to a jogger or to maneuver through narrow doorways when out and about. Luckily, most models have compact folding options that let you take off the front wheels to make compact storage.
Easy to Manoeuvre
A three-wheeled buggy is more maneuverable for children. The way in which they are built means that the front wheels turn at a quick pace and are extremely maneuverable and are ideal for difficult terrain such as parks, cobbles or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her infant and toddler and said: "The Terrain was a pleasure to navigate over the rough ground with the swivel rear wheel being particularly helpful. I was also impressed by the way it handled kerbs, especially when using the hand-operated brake. I found it to be extremely stable when going downhill or over uneven ground."
The only drawback to this incredible maneuverability is that the three wheel buggy's larger wheels do sometimes mean it has to be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces - something to consider if you live in a urban area. If this is an issue then a four-wheeled buggy might be a better option for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars will protect your child from bumps and scrapes while out and out and about. They are quick and easy to put up and help your child feel secure and safe whilst out on the town or taking on tough terrain.
Designed to complement the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar features an upholstered and soft surface that offers a comfortable spot for your child to hang to when walking. The robust construction and sturdy design will ensure that your child will be capable of enjoying a stroll through the city without fear of falling or leaning towards the side.
The sling's fabric is placed inside the frame and not on top of the modular seat. This creates a lower centre of gravity for your newborn at the ideal height, and also provides great weight distribution, making it easier to pop over curbs (it is much easier to push a stroller up and over than you may think). MFM reviewer Kath found it coped really well with cobbles and grass and is a great choice for jogging thanks to its lockable swivel wheel on the front and air filled tyres.
This bumper bar will turn heads wherever it is utilized. It has a sophisticated and fashionable look. It's available in a variety of finishes and colours to suit your style. It comes with a simple quick-release mechanism that makes it easy to install and remove the bumper bar whenever needed. The bumper bar is also easy to clean since it is constructed from strong materials. This makes it a great option for families who want an elegant and safe stroller accessory.
Comfort

A 3-wheel buggy is the ideal off-road vehicle for maneuverability and performance. With perfect design, engineering and weight distribution this type of buggy can change direction on a dime and be a breeze to steer with just one hand. Mountain Buggies pass the same rigorous stability standards and tests as 4-wheel buggies.
The sport's clever design puts the sling seat made of fabric inside the frame, not on top like modular seats. This means it has a lower center of gravity, which means it is more comfortable to push, has a less weighty curb-pop (you won't need to exert as much effort to lift the buggy's front end over the curb) and also provides better balance and stability. And with the huge rear wheels that measure 16 inches, lockable swivel front wheel and tyres with air that require only occasional pumping, you get an unhurried ride on rough terrain and a smoother, more comfortable jog.
The only all-terrain stroller in our range that comes with a parent-facing seat which can also accept an infant car seat or carrycot, you are able to future-proof your family to enjoy every adventure starting from the very first day, and for years to come!
But that's 3 wheeler strollers pushchairsandprams to love this buggy - our MFM reviewer Kath loved how spacious it is as well. There's a huge easy-to-access basket that's huge for a buggy of this size as well as an excellent zip-up pouch on the back of the seat and even 2 smaller mesh pockets under the hood to keep your keys and phone.
